The treads are very substantial which I really liked. The drawstring at the top keeps the snow from coming in when you fall through deep snow.My son loves them .he lives in Alaska and they are so warmPaid half price for these which is more inline as to what they are worth to me. First impressions...look nice and well made but with flimsy thin rubber with very little support for the ankles etc. Ok for shovelling snow and snow blowing for short periods because of the lack of support. Tightening the lower laces helps a lot but these are not for those that need that support and require boots that can be worn for longer periods. I doubt these will keep feet warm and comfortable at below -20C but I will know soon enough when we get those temps. I just wanted a decent snow boot for short periods outside so these should be ok. I would have never paid full price for these nor even close to it. Nice looking boots and reasonably comfortable if you don't mind flimsy. I wasn't really expecting much more than they offer. I have superior less higher winter boots for walks and longer period outside so these will be my quick slip on deep snow boots for shovelling etc. They are replacing a 30yr old worn out pair that were made to last that long. If I get 3-4 winters out of these then they were worth it. Baffin like most boots and shoes are made overseas where quality is not priority. I have an expensive Sorel Conquest...love these boots but a major problem the rubber and seams pull apart with light use so I've had to shoe goo them which works. Most owners had that happen within a few months so I got lucky because I got a few years out them before they started tearing. Just cheap rubber that can't take the cold nor the stress of walking etc. Again made overseas. One more thing these feel larger but it could be the flimsy no support causing that. I plan on wearing heavy winter socks with them.. UPDATE The Sorel Conquest developed major issues with rubber cracking and tearing separating from the upper leather. Junk boots. These Baffin have stood up well so I bought Baffin's Control Max winter boots which are fantastic boots and far superior to the Sorel's which don't back their boots while Baffin does plus you can phone and speak to them. So I now recommend any Baffin product and buy your foot size because they are made to fit perfectly.Absolutely mortified! Just noticed this on both boots. I’ve owned them for a year and only wear them in the coldest weather so maybe just over a couple of dozen times. I spent a lot of time choosing these boots and now have garbage and have to start over let alone the waste of money. I do not recommend these and thanks a lot Baffin (not).I bought this for my son and so far she really seems to like them, she finds them comfortable and warm. No issues to report they are a good pair of boots.Totally disappointed with this product. Not the quality I expected from Baffin. My 89.99 boots from Mark's fit better and are warmer. This is a great product however I would recommend to order half size larger. I use a 9 and if I had thick socks on it would be too small. Thin socks it’s a snug fit. Great value though.
